Certificate of Global Citizenship - 2021

World Affairs' Education Program offers Bay Area students the opportunity to engage with international affairs through the Ambassador Program, Summer Institute, Policy Simulation and many more. Upon completing these programs, you will have developed a skill set that helps to prepare you for success in college and beyond. The rigorous curriculum fosters global awareness and skills such as public speaking, leadership, and critical thinking.

To recognize students with an exceptional commitment to World Affairs and the global community, the Education Program has created the Certificate of Global Citizenship.

Students are eligible to receive the certificate by successfully participating in and completing the following:

- 5 International Career Mentor Webinar, and

- either the Summer Institute or Student Ambassador program

- Attending 10 virtual (or in person) public programs at World Affairs or affiliate Chapters

- Completing 10 hours of community service or submitting a short 3-5 minute video about a global issue documenting your activism

- Composing five reflections about your experiences

Students who complete the above will receive a certificate and recognition at the Annual Dinner later this year.

Deadline: May 7, 2021

Please use this form to submit your qualifications. You may save your progress in this form and then come back to finish it later.

Statement of Purpose

Required Programs
Please provide the year(s) in which you participated in these programs.

Public Program Attendance
World Affairs hosts more than 150 public programs each year in order to fulfill our mission of engaging the public in the most critical global issues of our day. To view our upcoming programs, please visit worldaffairs.org/events. If you need help registering, please contact Nikki Brueggeman at nbrueggeman@worldaffairs.org

Reflections
Please select five of the ten programs you have attended to write reflections. Each reflection should be between 300-500 words. Please do not simply summarize the event. Rather you can, share your reaction, analyze the speaker's points in terms of other things you have learned, answer any questions brought up by the talk, disagree with the speaker or make a new argument.  You may use previous blog posts or Summer Institute responses.

Community Service
Ten hours of community service are required to complete the certificate program. Please provide the dates, descriptions and contact information for your supervisor for each event you participate in.
