In a world where powerful states compete for geo-strategic influence, technology accelerates the delivery of information and amplifies the actions of millions of people in the midst of a global pandemic and a changing climate, leadership is needed now more than ever.
Are you ready to be a global citizen and are you ready to lead? For colleges and future employers, demonstrate your commitment to take on global challenges by earning your Certificate of Global Citizenship.
Beginning in January, a select group of students from a broad range of schools around the Bay Area and beyond will meet twice a month* to discuss contemporary global issues, participate in policy workshops and meet diplomats and practitioners in international affairs. You will develop the practical skills of civic engagement, discussion across differences, and team building, all designed to help you get more involved in a local community action project of your choice.
Certificates will be award to all students who:
Attend all of the six sessions
Participate regularly during discussions or through activities in google classroom.
Attend two World Affairs public programs or listen to two World Affairs podcasts and write a one-page reflection for each
Complete ten hours of community service and submit a written report or personal reflection about their activities.
*Note: Sessions are planned in-person at World Affairs’ downtown San Francisco headquarters with options for virtual participation. In light of the uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, we will have the flexibility to hold meetings strictly through a virtual platform. World Affairs will continue to follow all the COVID-19 related guidelines as outlined by the latest Health Orders of the City and County of San Francisco.
Please fill out and submit the application to be considered by January 19, 2022. Indicate wether you will be attending the program in person in our downtown headquarters or virtually.
Proof of vaccination is required to attend in person program and events at World Affairs.
